- Education – Master of Speech Language Pathology, University of Maine
Whitney Dee-Lapointe is an accomplished and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) dedicated to maximizing the communication, cognitive, and swallowing function of adult patients.
With a Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Maine at Orono, she brings extensive experience in complex healthcare settings, focusing on creating personalized, evidence-based treatment plans that support patient independence and improve overall quality of life. Her clinical focus lies in the evaluation and treatment of adults facing challenges such as aphasia, dysarthria, cognitive-communication deficits, dysphagia (swallowing), and voice disorders.
A significant strength of Dee-Lapointe’s practice is the breadth of experience gained across the entire continuum of care. She has provided services in acute hospital settings, intensive rehabilitation within skilled nursing facilities (SNF), home care environments, and virtual telehealth platforms. This diverse background ensures a holistic, adaptive approach to therapy, facilitating functional progress regardless of the patient’s stage of recovery. Committed to utilizing the most effective, research-backed methods, she maintains specialized certifications in high-demand programs, including the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT LOUD) for voice disorders, and the McNeil Dysphagia Treatment Program (MDTP), a systematic protocol for strengthening swallowing function.
Outside of the clinic, Whitney’s passions center on wellness and grounded living. She is an active yoga instructor, utilizing an understanding of breath, body mechanics, and meditation that often intersects with voice, swallowing and cognitive therapy. She also enjoys gardening and cooking with the food she grows, reflecting a commitment to health and community.
Why I joined Isaac Health
My dedication to specializing in dementia care is profoundly personal, rooted in my experience as a caregiver for my late grandmother. This firsthand journey provided me with a deep understanding of the unique emotional challenges, communication breakdowns, and daily complexities faced by both the individual with dementia and their family. This empathy and commitment to comprehensive, holistic support is precisely what drew me to Isaac Health. The ability to practice through a telehealth platform is particularly important to me; living in a rural community myself, I fully recognize the barriers and limited access to specialized healthcare that many patients face. I chose this organization because its mission aligns with my desire to merge clinical expertise with personal understanding and expand critical access, ensuring we provide the specialized, compassionate care that allows patients and their families to navigate this journey with the dignity and confidence they deserve.
